Candidate for
Member of the City Council; City of Camarillo

Don Waunch was elected to the Camarillo City Council November 2000, and, currently, as the Mayor of Camarillo, serves on numerous Council committees and regional County committees and commissions.

Don and his wife, Katie, have resided in the City of Camarillo since 1986. Prior to his election to City Council, Don served four years as a City of Camarillo Planning Commissioner.

Don holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Universiy of Hawaii. As a decorated Marine Corps aviator, Don retired as a Lieutenat Colonel in 1974. Following retirement from the United States Marine Corps, Don served in Washington D. C. as a congressional aide to then U. S. Representative Jim Lloyd, a member of the House Armed Services and Science and Technology Committees.

In 1981, Don began yet another career with the Northrop Grumman Corporation in its Hawthorne-El Segundo Aircraft Division, Corporate Headquarters, Century City, and the Ventura Division as a Business Development Director and Proposal Manager. Don retired from Northrop Grumman Corportation in 1994.

Don was born in Salem, Oregon and was raised in Hayward, California. As a resident of Camarillo following retirement, Don was a substitute teacher for the Pleasant Valley School District and for the Ventura County Superintendant of Schools. He also served as a counselor in the Superintendant of Schools Summer Youth Employment Training Program.

Don and his wife, the former Kathleen (Katie) Sullivan, are active in numerous civic and service organizations.
