How much liberty must you give away for a sense of security? How much liberty must you give away for a sense of security? How much more for real security? Do the lines at the airport really help or is this just an infringement? Where are the security lines at the nation's borders? Sometimes common sense gets lost when a job gets too big. Homeland Security and the Transportation Security Administration have gone out of their way to prove this. We are so politically correct that we forgot how to do the job. How many grandmothers in wheelchairs pose a great threat to our airlines? In the effort to prove we are not racially profiling we inadvertently are targeting those least likely to pose a problem and look the other way when a real danger is in our face. With all the security people at the gates it is still possible to get past with out a check. I have been at the Sacramento airport when they had a breach and shut everything down. The lower lobby is not large enough to hold all those people; they were standing outside trying to get in to get their flight. The delays cost money and they never found who went through. The federal government is charged with protecting us from foreign aggression. Running our airports is not their responsibility. We need real security, not just the appearance. |
