I believe that regulation of marriage should be left to the states.I do not support an amendment to the U.S. Constitution limiting marriage to opposite-sex couples. I believe that regulation of marriage is a matter that must be left to the states. At the moment, I believe that the social science evidence supports a policy of promoting the traditional family as the preferred environment for bearing and raising children. Accordingly, I support Ohio's decision to restrict marriage to opposite-sex couples. But each state needs to be free to decide for itself which sorts of relationships it wishes to encourage for the raising of children. |
