- Increasing Student Achievement + Standardized tests don't have to mean standardized schools. Each school's strengths can help their stu-dents improve. When parents are able to choose the best educational set-ting for their children they form a powerful partnership with classroom teachers that can produce great results. Financial stewardship of district resources will provide teachers and students with tools for success.
- Improving School Safety + Students must be safe from bullying, preju-dice, and substance abuse. The "Zero Tolerance" Policy should be con-tinually evaluated for effectiveness. When students feel safe, they are better able to concentrate on curriculum.
- Rejuvenating District Collaborations + Working with the city's Hu-man Services Department, surrounding colleges, and Claremont Educa-tion Foundation can help parents help students. The development of the Save Our Schools campaign is one model of parent/school collaboration that is being expanded from extracurricular to curricular areas.
