Below are highlights of some of my work as excerpted from local newspapers. Publication, date, and page number is given.ON PG&E'S DESIRE TO PUT A TRANSMISSION STATION AT SAN BRUNO AVE AND GLENVIEW - San Mateo Daily News, June 16, 04 - Page 1 "Ugly power station opposed" "An ugly high-voltage electric facility would make the spot look blighted, " said Scott Buschman. The Independent, March 18, 2003, Page 1, "Concerns rising over substation" "It's a bad use of that piece of property," said Scott Buschman, who lives on Claremont Drive. "Why would you put your major link in a vulnerable spot?" ON SFO'S BEING NAMED A LOW NOISE AIRPORT - The Independent, Oct. 21, 2003 - Page 4A , Letters, "SFO propaganda" "The truth is SFO allows outrageously loud aircraft to take off and land at any time of the day and night with no regards and no recourse for the public." Scott Buschman ON PLANS FOR PUTTING A POLLUTING POWER PLANT ON AIRPORT PROPERTY - The Independent, May 12, 2001 - Page 1, "Plant to SFO: We're outta here" "San Bruno resident Scott Buschman is pleased El Paso is out...'This plant ...is detrimental to our health.'" The Independent, March 24, 2001, Page 1, "Nod to huge plant comes as surprise" - "This is another example of the city and county of San Francisco owning land around us," said Buschman, "They don't care what we think or what we feel." The Independent, March 21, 2001, Page 1, "Neighbors still dismayed by energy politics" - "Buschman was dismayed by the way the Energy Commission handled notifying the public about the future power plant within one mile of their homes and the Belle Air Elementary School." San Francisco Chronicle, March 8, 2001, Page A20 "State Oks Peaker Power Plant at SFO" - "Scott Buschman ... said it was unjust that state officials 100 miles away in Sacramento approved a Texas company's proposal to put a power plant on land owned by San Francisco." `The fact they approved it without considering the public's concerns, foremost air quality, is very disturbing,' said Buschman." The Independent, March 7, 2001, Page 1, "El Paso Energy suspected of fixing rates" - "Twenty percent (reduction in rates) does not entice me to place a peaker plant in that area," said San Bruno resident Scott Buschman. "It's just too close." The Independent, March 3, 2001, Page 1 "Air pollution fears hover over SFO plant" - "It is disturbing ... a company from Texas can get licensed from an agency in Sacramento, get permits from San Francisco County for a project in San Mateo County," said Scott Buschman. The Independent, Feb. 3, 2001, Page 1 , "Power Plant's significance under fire" - "Scott Buschman, a San Bruno resident, asked the CEC to consider the already existing air polluting contributors surrounding San Bruno." `The impacts are not insignificant to people who live right in the area,' said Buschman." The Independent, Jan. 31, 2001, Page 1 , "Laws help shoo-in generator" - "It would be nice if we had more leverage on them, but they can basically do what they want," said San Bruno resident Scott Buschman. ON COUNTY'S PLAN TO HOUSE 90 HIGH-RISK HOMELESS PEOPLE AT SAN BRUNO NATIONAL GUARD ARMORY ACROSS FROM ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND DAYCARE FACILITY - The Independent, Sept., 25, 1999, Page 1, "Shelter move meeting goes nowhere" - "Scott Buschman, a Belle Air parent who volunteered to represent San Bruno with the county's Winter Shelter Task Force, said the meeting solved none of the questions or concerns that have been raised over the past several weeks. `The homeless coordinator seems to have blinders on and is...(not) fully considering the concerns of San Bruno. The whole package is flawed but they are still moving to get it done,' said Buschman." The San Francisco Chronicle, Sept. 21, 1999, Page A16, "Residents Argue Against Shelter in San Bruno" - "The armory, situated next to an elementary school in a residential neighborhood, is the wrong place for a 90-bed shelter," said Scott Buschman, a resident who met with county homeless officials yesterday. "This plan is unacceptable. They are not listening to the community's concerns." San Mateo County Times, Sept. 21, 1999, Page 2, "San Bruno still opposes shelter" - "Scott Buschman ... said his neighborhood has been placed on the defensive by the short notice it was given about the shelter." ON BARTS PLAN TO PUT TRACKS THROUGH SAN MATEO COUNTY, TAKING OUT HOMES AND BUSINESSES - Millbrae/San Bruno Sun, January 20, 1994 Page 1A, "200 turn out for BART public hearing" - "A tunnel option in the only way to go through San Bruno to not wipe out the business and residential areas," said Scott Buschman, a member of the San Bruno Citizens Coalition. The Independent, Jan. 19, 1994, Page 1 "New Station Plan Being Floated in San Bruno" - "It took me off guard," said Scott Buschman, a spokesperson for the San Bruno Citizens Coalition. "It is another devastating plan." San Francisco Chronicle, Jan. 17, 1994, Page 1 "Cities at Odds On BART Link to Airport" - "The downtown plans takes out about four blocks of homes, and mine is one of them," said Scott Buschman, who lives with his wife and 6-year-old son in San Bruno's Belle Air neighborhood.
