I believe that a Judge's primary obligation is to the public. It is imperative that a Judge always remember the great trust that the public places in their ability to do the job effectively and fairly. Each participant in a trial should be viewed not just as "defendant" and "plaintiff" but as individual human beings. They should be afforded respect and civility by the court regardless of their walk in life. A judge should always consider the impact of a criminal act upon a victim and allow the victim the opportunity to make their concerns known to the judge. |
