Candidate for
Council Member; City of Piedmont

My wife, Maggie, and I have lived in Piedmont for 24 years with our daughter, Julia, is a freshman at Brown University and our son, Bryan, is a sophomore at Piedmont High School.

As an active Piedmont community volunteer for the past 15 years for both the city and the school district, I have enjoyed my public service experience and the opportunity to work with talented and dedicated professionals in the city, school district and in our community.

I bring experience, leadership and service, and 30 years of senior financial and administrative experience to the table. I am the only candidate with a strong professional financial background, and will bring sound financial management skills to the City Council.

I have been a California licensed CPA since 1977 and a senior financial officer for major public companies for over 25 years, including MetLife and Bank of America.

I have earned my BS at UC Berkeley in electrical engineering and computer science and my MBA in finance and accounting at UCLA.

Leadership and Service:

I am a proven leader and consensus builder who values the diversity of opinions.

I am on the Piedmont Boy Scouts Council Executive Board since 2001 and have been the VP Finance since 2004.

I have been the Chair of the Municipal Tax Review Committee (2003) and of the Capital Improvements Project Committee (2003), serving two terms each.

I am a past President of the Piedmont Educational Foundation (2001)and of the Piedmont Asian American Club (1991, 1996), serving 6 years and 10 years, respectively on the boards.

I am currently a member of the Piedmont Civil Service Commission and have served on the Piedmont Unified School District's Strategic Planning Committee.

I have also been active outside of the Piedmont community, serving on the board of the Asian Business League of San Francisco since 1985 and have been the Treasurer for a number of years. I am also an active committee member, since 1989, for the National Association of Black Accountants' "Accounting Career Awareness Program".
