Political Philosophy for Garrett A. Keating

In my 10 years in Piedmont, I have seen how important community service is to our town. I spearheaded the drive for the new Dracena Park playground that resulted in a real community effort in the design and funding of this playground. The enthusiasm for that project has encouraged me to work for increased public participation in the important issues the next Council will address: the Civic Center Master Plan, the swimming pool, and the 801 Magnolia Avenue and PG&E Building developments. I support: - "Family-friendly" access to the City Council: Making it easier for everyone to participate in Piedmont's government through the internet, at the schools, and at meetings that match your schedule. - City/school partnerships: Many opportunities will arise in the next council term for the City and the School District to work together to coordinate the development of new facilities, maximize Piedmont's resources and reduce traffic and congestion. I will work to make sure that the City and the School District work together to meet the needs of all Piedmonters. - Long-range planning: Let's find out where Piedmont is going and what it needs and start now to plan for how we are going to meet those needs. |
