One of the biggest crises we face in Richmond is a lack of leadership. It is because of this crisis that we see violence uncurbed, streets unpaved, economic opportunities untapped, and our natural resources unprotected. Richmond needs a mayor with the courage to reverse the prevailing defeatist mentality that ignores the will of the people and sacrifices our city's future to the rule of greed. Richmond needs a mayor whose first response is to the underserved population of hopeless youth lacking jobs and education opportunities. By prioritizing their desperate needs, all of Richmond will breathe more peacefully. I will be such a mayor. My pledge is to build a Richmond based on economic vitality, social justice and environmental health. I will advance a Richmond that works with local businesses promoting a revitalization of our economy and creating a sustainable city with clean industries and expanded housing stock and home ownership. I will fight pollution and maintain and expand our libraries, parks and senior services. Among my endorsers are the Sierra Club, the Gray Panthers-West County, the Mexican American Political Association-Richmond, the Richmond Progressive Alliance and several local unions. With your vote, our long-awaited better Richmond is possible! |
