Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Tahoe Truckee Unified School District; Trustee Area 1

The product of a working class family, Bill put himself through college, ultimately earning a doctorate degree from the University of California on a National Science Foundation Fellowship.

For the next 15 years, he worked in the private sector in a variety of roles, including executive management, and even helped found a successful startup company. He now works as a University of California scientist conducting research for NASA.

Since moving to Truckee, both Bill and his wife Lizbeth Doving have been very involved in the local community:

• Bill was a key member of the 2005 Measure A campaign, where he volunteered hundreds of hours and was instrumental in developing overall campaign strategy and materials. For two years in a row, he was elected to the board of the Citizens' Review Committee, which is responsible for the oversight of Measure A funds.

• He worked closely with The Excellence in Education Foundation and The Truckee Tahoe Community Foundation in order to develop the public presentations and other materials used in the recent Education Matters initiative.

• And Bill has served on the local Airport Community Advisory Team, where he authored that team's workplan and quickly gained a reputation as both a keen analyst and a consensus builder.

Bill and Lizbeth live in Tahoe Donner with their two preschool-aged children, Bjørn and Katerina, as well as a rescue greyhound, Snowflake, and a cat, Kiwi.
