Tony Rubino was elected to the Tehachapi Unified School District School Board in November, 2002. He ran as a candidate believing in improving academic excellence and ensuring that Administration, Teachers, and Students were respectful of one another. He was the School Board Vice President from December 2003 through November 2004 and the President from December 2004 through November 2005. He decided to run again in 2006, as a candidate focusing on Kids First with continued district movement toward academic excellence, developing solid/professional district leadership, and increasing vocational education and related opportunities. Tony is a Supervisor in the Test Engineering Group located at Edwards Air Force Base, California. He supervises over 35 employees who conduct Development, Test and Evaluation of advanced systems and ensures newly developed aircraft hardware and software will meet requirements. At Edwards AFB, Tony has dedicated much of the last 15 years to encouraging young people to enter the fields of engineering, math and science. He has judged science fairs, presented at National Engineer's Week, and supported Antelope Valley High School Career Nights. At the University level, Tony has expended extensive effort recruiting civilian engineers for the United States Air Force at Edwards AFB. He is presently coordinating with the Tehachapi High Engineering and Manufacturing Academy (THEMA) teachers to hire students entering their senior year to work the summer as engineering interns to gain engineering insight and experience. Tony is married and he and his wife have twin sons and twin daughters. |
