Specifically: 1997-2002: Kern High School District Post-retirement consultant and teacher in the Adult School. 1987-1997: Kern High School District, classroom teacher at Bakersfield High School in Social Studies, and at several levels. 1981-1986: Full and part-time lecturer and supervisor of secondary student teachers and early field experience students at California State University Bakersfield, Department of Teacher Education. 1978-80: Post-doctoral study at Michigan State University along with part-time teaching. 1975-1977: Lecturer, School of Education, Macquarie University, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. 1974: Lecturer, Churchlands Teachers College of Advanced Education, Perth, Western Australia. Part-time at the Further Teacher Education Centre, Subiaco, Western Australia. 1968-1973: Assistant professor, Lansing Community College, Lansing, Michigan and completion of Ph.D. in Social-Philosophical Foundations of Education at Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan. 1966-1967: Ph.D. doctoral student and recipient of Ford Foundation College Teaching Internship and Assistant Instructor,Extension, Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan. 1965-66: Instructor, Gogebic Community College, Ironwood, Michigan. 1965: Completion of M.A. Ed, Social Studies, University of Northern Iowa, and part-time teacher at Don Bosco High School (a Catholic high school), Gilbertville, Iowa. 1964: Completed B.A. in History degree, University of Northern Iowa and earned Iowa teaching certificate after successful student teaching at Newton Junior High school, Newton, Iowa. 1953-1963: Primarily taken up with two active duty enlistments in the USAF. Several awards, such as Strategic Air Command's Distinguished Educational Achievement award, etc., 8th TAC Fighter Wing Airman of the Month, etc.
SOME BROADENING NON-ACADEMIC EXPERIENCES INCLUDE: Two military service enlistments during the Korean War and Vietnam War periods, extensive travel (including four years in Japan and Korea) while stationed overseas and stateside as an airborne radar navigational equipment repairman. Additional broadening experiences include part-time as a farm worker, working in a tannery, in a factory as an assembler, and being a security officer. If elected, I would actively support the board's primary function of policy making, oversight, and appraisal. I expect to contribute in the development of clear, concise, and effective policies to do the job we are elected to do.
