Candidate for
City Council Member; City of Santa Monica

I don't want to bore you with my whole biography, but I do like people to know that I was born in Santa Monica and lived my whole life here. I am a product of Santa Monica public schools, as were my father and my three children--who, as adults, have all remained here in Santa Monica. My family has a strong sense of Santa Monica history and an abiding concern for our city's future.

Highlights of my 24 years of public service:

• Helped convince groups feeding homeless people in our parks to move indoors

• Supported City grants to aid public schools financially

• Consistently supported strong Police and Fire departments

• Maintained Santa Monica's AAA bond rating through two recessions

• Led the search that resulted in hiring our new City Manager, who has already made many improvements

• Arranged for Santa Monica Historical Society's new home in Main Library

• On School Board: Preserved quality education in spite of declining enrollment and severe cuts in state funding

• Continue to provide a constant voice of moderation, common sense, and respect for residents
