What is your personal philosophy for leadership of P.G.

My goal is to strike a balance between residential and business interests in town. Too long have the two sides been seen as adversaries.

We need to approach this problem with with vision and planning. Simply getting businesses into town is not the solution. We need a new approach and some creative thinking so businesses will not only stay and be sucessful in their own right but compliment and generate overall success in the business community as a whole.
Some say the mayor is not important in terms of economic developement. I disagree. As your mayor, along with leaders of our business community, I will act as the economic spokesperson for the town and will develope the public and private coalitions that make a thriving business community happen. This of course is critical to the interests of residents because to a large extent, it is business that pays for the city services we all enjoy.

What ideas do I have for future economic development in P.G.? I favor the magnet business concept. A magnet business would be typified by the developement of a car wash in town. This is how a magnet business works: A car wash is the number one most requested business by residents for several years running. A car wash would not only keep residents in town to wash their cars, have lunch, and shop, but would also draw car washers from Pebble Beach, Carmel and other surrounding areas. These customers would then shop and eat in P.G. thus stimulating other businesses. This is just one idea.

As mayor, I would immediately take a role on the City's Economic Advisory Committee, a seat that has not been taken by the past three mayors. In the economic devleopment area we have been a ship without a rudder for too long and it shows.
This would be a high priority for me as your mayor. A stong economic future is a key component not only to addressing our current budgetary shorfall but to create a more stable economic picuture for our town in the future.
