What is your personal philosophy for leadership of P.G.By Susan M GoldbeckCandidate for Mayor; City of Pacific Grove | |

My goal is to strike a balance between residential and business interests in town. Too long have the two sides been seen as adversaries. My number one challenge as mayor is to strike a balance between business and residential interests. Too long have we viewed these two groups as adversaries. You cannot have a town without business and you certainly cannot have a town without residents. I am concerned with the lack of leadership and vision in terms of economic development of our town. I share the concern of residents about all the empty storefronts and businesses we now have. We need to approach this problem with with vision and planning. Simply getting businesses into town is not the solution. We need a new approach and some creative thinking so businesses will not only stay and be sucessful in their own right but compliment and generate overall success in the business community as a whole.
As mayor, I would immediately take a role on the City's Economic Advisory Committee, a seat that has not been taken by the past three mayors. In the economic devleopment area we have been a ship without a rudder for too long and it shows. |
