Ken Gray has lived in Marina for 19 years and has been married for 30 years. He and his wife Pat have two sons who attended Olsen Elementary and Los Arboles Middle Schools and are now in college. While raising their family in Marina, Ken and Pat have been involved in youth activities including baseball, soccer and Cub and Boy Scouts. Ken has bee a baseball and soccer coach, Webelos Den Leader and Scoutmaster.

Ken has been a community leader in Marina for many years. He has served on the City of Marina Design Review Board and Planning Commission. In 1998 Ken founded Marina 2020 Vision which place Measure E, the Marina Urban Growth Boundary before the voters in November 2000. The measure passed and is now in effect. Marina is the first city in Monterey County to establish an Urban Growth Boundary.

Ken Gray is employed by California State Parks in Monterey. He has been a State Park employee for over 33 years as a park ranger, ecologist and planner. Ken has had a leadership role in many of the largest and most complex habitat restoration and coastal access projects State Parks has undertaken in the Monterey Bay area. In 1986 he managed a major habitat restoration project at Marina State Beach which successfully stabilized and revegetated the coastal dunes and constructed the dunes boardwalk.

Ken was State Parks project manager for the Point Lobos Wastewater Project, the coastal access project at Seaside Beach and the new bicycle trails north and south of the Monterey Beach Hotel. Ken coordinated State Parks flood control and habitat restoration efforts on the lower Carmel River following the 1995 floods. Ken is State Parks lead person for the efforts to establish Fort Ord Dunes State Park. He has managed the projects to remove abandoned buildings and restore habitat on the Fort Ord Coast.
