Bruce Garlich is a Costa Mesa resident of almost 35 years.
Mr. Garlich is a retired aerospace executive and engineer. For fifteen years, he served as President of the Wimbledon Village Homeowner's Association. Mr. Garlich has served as a Costa Mesa Planning Commissioner for the past six years, including two years as Chairman and was a candidate for City Council in 2004. Due to his interest in education issues, Mr. Garlich functions as the Planning Commission's liaison to the Newport-Mesa Unified School District and was a member of the NMUSD Superintendent Selection Advisory Committee in 2006. He has been active in many community organizations and committees including the Traffic Impact Fee Committee, Downtown/Eastside Traffic Committee, and is a "Reading By Nine" Program volunteer at Wilson School. Mr. Garlich is a member of the Board of Directors of the Costa Mesa Senior Center, the Newport-Mesa Schools Foundation, the Costa Mesa Community Athletic Foundation, the Harbor Area Boys and Girls Clubs and Leadership Tomorrow. Additionally he is a member of the Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce, the Lions Club, the Orange County Chapter of the Air Force Association, the Friends of the Costa Mesa Libraries and volunteers as a Marshall at the Toshiba Senior Golf Classic. He is also a graduate of the Costa Mesa Citizens Police Academy, Fire Academy, the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program, and the Leadership Tomorrow Class of 2006.
