Goleta is managing its fiscal resources responsiblyI am proud of the sound financial basis the new city of Goleta has achieved during my first term. Many opponents of cityhood claimed that the new city would be financially unviable and we have shown these dire predictions to be wrong. A recent audit clearly shows that the City of Goleta is managing its fiscal resources responsibly and commends the city for the hard work that has allowed Goleta to overcome many obstacles and stabilize in a very short period of time. According to a Grand Jury report, "the City of Goleta is being managed on a sound financial basis and is providing an appropriate level of services." Goleta has a balanced budget and growing reserves of over $6 million. With careful management and prioritization of expenditures, Goleta will remain a fiscally viable city, in the black, and able to meet both predicted and unexpected expenses. |
