|
Bob Bohner is a homeowner who has resided in Manhattan Beach for 17 years. He has been an active member of our Manhattan Beach Community, and has dedicated himself to serving our community as a leader in many of its civic and community organizations. Bob is currently a Manhattan Beach Planning Commissioner, a former Manhattan Beach Parks and Recreation Commissioner, a member of the board of directors of the Manhattan Beach Old Hometown Fair and is the former treasurer and current president of the Manhattan Beach Sister City Committee. In addition, Bob is on the finance board of the Manhattan Beach Community Church, and is a member of the Manhattan Beach Property Owner's Association, the Manhattan Beach Lion's Club, the Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce and is a patron of the Manhattan Beach Historical Society. For over 20 years, Bob has worked as an attorney and specializes in the health care field. He currently practices in the Los Angeles office of the international law firm of Sedgwick, Detert, Moran & Arnold LLP. In his practice, Bob represents several of the nation's and Southern California's largest health care organizations and physician groups. Bob's hands+on experience as a dedicated practicing attorney has provided him with the analytical and mediation skills necessary to get at the root of problems, develop viable solutions and reach a consensus acceptable to all impacted parties. Bob has served for almost four years as a Manhattan Beach City Commissioner, first as a Parks and Recreation Commissioner for two years and currently as a Planning Commissioner for almost two years. He is currently the chair of the Manhattan Beach Planning Commission. Bob has served longer as a city commissioner than any of the other commissioner candidates running for city council. As a city commissioner, Bob has fought hard to preserve our way of life here in Manhattan Beach and has supported efforts to preserve open space and set back requirements, and to encourage the retention of smaller homes, while continuing to respect property rights. Currently in his fourth year as a member of the board of directors of the Manhattan Beach Old Hometown Fair, Bob has had the responsibility of coordinating all publicity for the Fair, maintaining the Fair website and obtaining and supervising the many volunteers whose participation is necessary to make the Fair possible. Bob's experience on the Fair Board has allowed him to work successfully with a broad base of people in our community in presenting one of the most cherished traditional events that Manhattan Beach offers every year. In addition, Bob is the current president and former treasurer of the Manhattan Beach Sister City Committee, which promotes cultural exchange between the City of Manhattan Beach and its residents and our Sister City, Santa Rosalia, Baja, Mexico. It also provides our Manhattan Beach firefighters and paramedics with unique opportunities to enhance their own skills by teaching the latest firefighting and lifesaving techniques to their counterparts in Santa Rosalia. |
