A more detailed presentation of my platform
I am committed to:
1. Focus on needs of students and classrooms.
- To advocate for our students
- To keep them foremost in all decisions that are made
2. Discuss issues, not personalities
- To work collaboratively and collegially with other Board members and the Superintendent
- To keep board members focused on issue
- To promotes better interaction with all stakeholders
- To provide positive role models for our students
3. Build an effective school system for every child in PUSD
- To build excellence and equity throughout the district
- To review technical needs of the learning environment and administrative offices in order that they effectively and efficiently
- To review school configuration, magnet and charter schools, teacher retention and open enrollment as part of our long-range strategic plan
4. Lead PUSD in effective self-assessment and evaluation
- To prepare and plan effectively board members need adequate time to read reports, ask questions and receive answers to those questions before they reach a conclusion
- To use budgeting, assessments, and evaluations using accurate data
- To insist on best practices in our classrooms, at our schools and in our administrative offices
- To evaluate consultants and grant-funded efforts
5. Strengthen communication between the district and the communities it serves
- To focus on concrete effective ways of decreasing the achievement gap
- To make the budget and expenditure process open and transparent
- To share information and listen to concerns in a timely manner
- To keep all constituents and all students' needs in mind
- To strengthen and continue to develop partnerships with municipal governments, businesses, corporations, and educational institutions
