Goals and Priorites for the next four years

Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your Mayor in 2006 and councilmember since 2003. I again ask for your vote on March 6, 2007.

I continue to treasure our serene, safe neighborhoods, abundant recreational opportunities and superior education system. These unique elements cannot be maintained unless we continue to elect citizens committed to nurturing these essential qualities. When you re-elect me to the Manhattan Beach City Council, I pledge to continue that effort.

I am a Manhattan Beach business owner and IT consultant with over 24 years of experience. I am committed to the prosperity of our business community and will continue to advocate for its vitality.

I served on the Los Angeles County Sanitation District's Board of Directors with oversight over our most precious resources - water, ocean and environment. I will pursue the promotion of a South Bay representative on the Air Quality Management District Board (AQMD). It is imperative a member of our coastal community have direct involvement with this agency. We are affected by their decisions and we must actively participate in how we protect our coastline and ocean.

My Goals and Priorities

When re-elected, I will continue to provide leadership, make fair decisions based on facts, and work with fellow council members in the following areas:

- Vigorously pursue our long range Facilities Strategic Plan. I want all residents to have the opportunity to determine, as we did with the downtown strategic plan, the course our town should take in the next 10 - 15 years.

- Continue to aggressively address our neighborhood traffic management issues. Work to improve rush hour problem intersections within town - work with Caltrans on further traffic signal coordination.

- Maintain dialogue with education leaders to find optimal solutions for our schools, e.g. work with school officials on after school programs, address school surplus properties and explore other cooperative city/school opportunities.

- Assess undergrounding proposals with a fair minded approach while recognizing some residents favor and some oppose it. I will cautiously look to do what is right for our town and will balance the rights of all who want enhanced views and those wishing to remain in their homes without unnecessary or unwanted undergrounding debt.

- Provide assistance to Manhattan Beach seniors, especially those in need. I will continue to promote upgrades to our existing facilities, where feasible, to specifically meet the needs of all Manhattan Beach seniors.

- And, as in the past, I passionately pledge to do my absolute best to sustain our low profile, small town, and safe way of life for all of our families.
