Candidate for
Council Member; Borough of Lansdowne; Democratic Party

Lansdowne is in very good shape after a decade of solid and progressive borough leadership, and I want to continue that trend. I strongly believe in government "of the people, by the people, for the people," and want to do my part as a member of this community to ensure that what is so special about Lansdowne can be enjoyed for many years to come. The issues that most concern me are reflected in my values for our society: transparent, respectful, responsive government of the many - not the few; a commitment to eradicating racism, sexism, homophobia and other oppressive legacies in our society; and a belief that we must all be active, engaged citizens who are willing to vote, learn, step up, participate and contribute to the quality of life for everyone in our community.

I am very impressed by what the current Borough Council has achieved and it would be an honor to work with them to continue to improve our community. They have taken a very proactive and thoughtful approach to governance, and have improved numerous systems and services for our residents while keeping expenses -- and taxes -- as low as possible. The Council (and the Mayor) do not get paid. They are not career politicians, but your neighbors who care deeply about, and are willing to work tirelessly on behalf of, the people of the Lansdowne. Their service has inspired my own.

I will work hard to ensure that the business of our borough is run in an open, honest, efficient, equitable and respectful way.
