Political Philosophy for Robin Marks

The education of students does not happen without the involvement and partnership of many individuals. The school board needs to be respectful and accountable to all of these groups. Students need to have a say in how they best learn and what they need in order to achieve the goal. Parents need to be heard about what they believe is in the best interest of their children. Teachers need to be heard as the education professionals working to instruct, inspire, and encourage our future leaders. It is the school board that will set the direction for the education paths available to the student of our community. We need a Board that understands the financial conditions of public education today. Every dollar must be carefully considered, there is no room for waste in this important cause. A school board needs to encourage the active involvement of all stakeholders along with open and interactive communication. The board needs to recognize and honor the diverse differences in backgrounds, cultures, and lifestyles of all the students, parents, and staff. Respectful recognition of our differences will help everyone work together and be accountable for student academic success. These are the goals I hope we can achieve together as a community. The outcome of these efforts is the direction of our future leaders. I respectfully ask that you entrust me with this most important endevor. Thank you. |
