EARLY TAFOYA

My name is Ivan Tafoya and grew up in the East Los Angeles area. I attended public schools and developed a huge passion for higher education. My parents always instilled in me the importance of obtaining a higher education. Inspired and filled with a hunger to succeed, I enrolled in and attended the University of California at Berkeley. Berkeley taught me the value of public education and what it takes to succeed as an individual and as a professional. I gained a lot of knowledge and ideas that helped shape the person I am today.

TAFOYA TODAY

Today, I find myself interested in making a positive change in my community. I am a former elementary school teacher and I have three kids who attend schools in the South Whittier School District. I am very passionate about life, my marriage and raising my three children. If elected, I will work to strengthen professional development, push for higher academic standards, and improve student nutrition, health and safety.
