Megan is a local, having spent her entire life in this area. She was raised in Portola Valley before living in Sunnyvale and finally settling with her husband Clay in Los Altos. A graduate of Stanford University, Megan also holds a JD and MBA from UCLA. Megan works at Hewlett Packard as manager of the business escalations team. Megan began her career at Hewlett-Packard over 10 years ago. In her current role as a manager, Megan leads a worldwide team which works across functions and organizations to respond to customer concerns outside of what is managed by customer service. Her day to day activities involve understanding the customer issue, developing a plan to resolve those issues, and building consensus around the plan. Megan is responsible for making decisions which impact both HP's customer and HP's finances. While enjoying her work, Megan looked for ways to serve her community. Within one year of buying her first home, she was appointed to the Sunnyvale Planning Commission where she served five years. After moving to Los Altos, Megan became involved in a local neighborhood group while completing a minor remodel on her single story home. With that complete, Megan returned to her focus of serving the community. In 2006, she was appointed to the Los Altos Planning Commission. She has served on the Board of Adjustments and now chairs the Architecture and Site Review Committee. In November 2006, Megan applied for appointment to a vacancy on the City Council. In addition to her civic involvement, Megan has been involved in a number of community service activities. Her most recent activity has been to mentor a high school student. Megan identified an area of interest for the student, and was able to set-up an information interview so the student could learn how that interest might translate into a career. Megan has the commitment, intelligence, integrity, leadership and desire to serve. With her leadership and consensus building skills as well as unwavering integrity, Megan would be a strong voice for Los Altos. |
