On November 6th, residents of Menlo Park, Atherton, East Palo Alto, and unincorporated areas of Menlo Park and Redwood City, will cast their votes for 2 directors of the Menlo Park Fire Protection District. Reasons to vote for Peter Ohtaki include:
- Recognized leader in Bay Area disaster preparedness and planning
- Created a Bay Area-wide public-private partnership for disaster response as Director of a national organization promoting homeland security.
- Advise the Governor's Office of Emergency Services in improving California's emergency management system.
- Received a California Emergency Services Association award for "exceptional efforts in support of emergency management and preparedness."
- Proven experience serving on a district board
- Appointed to the Board of Directors for the Mid-Peninsula Water District and implemented a management tool to prioritize the district's strategic direction.

- Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) member, trained by Menlo Fire.
