I think it is vitally important for the local governing board to promote and protect the common good through informed and respectful civic engagement in the democratic process. Effective school board governance requires vision, commitment, perspective, and the ability to set goals and make decisions in the best interests of all students after considering a broad range of viewpoints. These are qualities I believe I bring to the Board. In addition, open and purposeful dialogue is essential in ensuring that a relevant and rigorous educational program is provided to all students in safe, well-maintained facilities. Over the past 15 years and in my first term of office, I have worked to inspire participation in collaborative efforts such as the:
