I’m Kathy Wisnicki and I’m running for Malibu City Council. I hope to earn your vote on April 8th.

I have lived in Malibu with my husband Bruce and two children, Jake and Julia, since 1996. After completing my doctorate in Applied Statistics and Education and working as a researcher at UCLA, I’ve utilized my skills to help improve our schools and our community. For more than three years, I have represented Malibu on the Santa Monica-Malibu School Board, including a term as President. I want to take that leadership and experience and bring my vision of excellence to the city of Malibu, as we mature as an independent city.

Protection of the environment, education, traffic, public safety, and responsible city planning are complex regional issues that concern Malibu residents every day. Malibu’s leaders must work collaboratively with elected officials from the municipalities surrounding us to come up with creative and effective solutions that will improve our quality of life. Representing Malibu as President of the Santa Monica - Malibu Board of Education has given me the requisite managerial, financial and other essential skills that will ensure that I will be effective as your Councilmember.

As a long-time community leader, as well as an elected official, I understand the diverse challenges of a city government. My extensive experience demonstrates my ability to find creative solutions and to carry out a plan of action. I look forward to putting this experience to work for the citizens of Malibu and will, as always, listen to all voices and examine all facets of issues in advance of making decisions.

My knowledge of regional issues will help me work with you to create solutions to the many challenges our community faces. My reputation for making thoughtful decisions has resulted in favorable and significant relationships with decision-makers in Malibu, the School District, Santa Monica College, and elected officials in Sacramento.

My track record proves that I will take a stand on issues that I believe in and make decisions with Malibu’s best interest at heart, even in the face of adversity. If elected, I’ll work diligently to find solutions for the issues which Malibu residents consider most important. I’m Kathy Wisnicki, and I’ve been proud to work on Malibu’s behalf for many years. I hope to earn your vote for City Council on April 8th. Together, we can make a difference for our community.
