HealthcareBy Tom QuinnCandidate for State Representative; District 165; Democratic Party | |

Healthcare for Each and Every Pennsylvanian- The Uninsured and the rest of us who are underinsuredEvery citizen in Pennsylvania should have access to quality care. The cost of not having coverage for each of our citizens grows every day. Illness has become the leading cause of personal bankruptcy. When we + or our parents or our children + are ill, our focus should be on healthcare decisions, not on financial consequences. Our healthcare policies must Ensure that every Pennsylvanian has access to affordable care. The state of our pocket books should not control our health. Every citizen must have the security of knowing that they will be cared for. It is something we can do in this society and something we must do. Refocus healthcare on families + not profits. We need to shift the focus of healthcare away from the big business it has become and back to the very ideal of what "care" should mean. Make preventive care a priority. We need to create ways for people to stay healthy and avoid illness in the first place. Encourage doctors to stay in PA. We cannot afford to lose more doctors and we need to attract younger doctors and give them a reason to stay in our state. We must address the flight of doctors to ensure we can all get the care we need. |
