Mary is a native of Walnut Creek and a lifelong resident of Contra Costa County. Mary graduated from Las Lomas High School in Walnut Creek and went on to attend local college to pursue an education in business and foreign language. Mary began her professional career in the Title Insurance Industry, where she spent many years building a successful resume. Mary ascended from an escrow secretary to ultimately running and managing a local office in San Ramon for a major Title company. Mary holds a State of California Real Estate Salesperson's License. After a downturn in the real estate industry, Mary went to work managing and running a local Delta oriented community based newspaper. As the General Manager she managed the day-to-day business operations, editorials, ad placement and newspaper production from start to finish for each issue. Mary was ultimately recruited to join the staff of California Assemblywoman Lynne C. Leach's team. Mary was Lynne's East County Field Representative and kept the Assemblywoman informed of all the issues of importance to her legislative role in far Eastern Contra Costa County, often speaking in behalf of the Assemblywoman. During this time Mary was encouraged to join the Los Medanos Community College District's Foundation Board where she served as President. Mary was selected to join the Contra Costa Community College District Measure A Bond Oversight Committee, where she was ultimately elevated to the roll of Chairperson. Mary won election to the Byron Union School District Board of Trustees where she served until her election to the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors where she currently serves. Mary is a member of the CWLA, California Women's Leadership Association and also holds a State of California Real Estate Salesperson's License. Mary lives in Discovery Bay with her husband, David, an Engineer/Firefighter for Alameda County Fire Department and their daughter Mariah, who attends public school. The Honorable Mary N. Piepho sworn to serve on the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors in January, 2005. In January 2007, Supervisor Piepho was elected by her colleagues to serve as Chair of the Board. As a County Supervisor, Mary represents Contra Costa County's Third Supervisorial District, the largest of all five districts in the county. District III includes the communities of Walnut Creek, Alamo, Danville, San Ramon, Discovery Bay, Diablo, Brentwood, Byron, Knightsen, Blackhawk and the entire Tassajara Valley. She is currently serving her fourth year representing District III. Supervisor Piepho understands the varied and complex needs of the county's residents. She has served as Chair of the Board of Supervisor's Capital Facilities Planning Committee, as well as a member of the Finance Committee, State Route 4 Bypass Authority and a host of many other committees. As a member of these important various committees, Mary works hard to create sound public policy that serves the vital needs of Contra Costa County's residents while maintaining a fiscally conservative approach that protects the county's finances. Mary is truly committed to being an effective and strong public servant. |
