People that actually run businesses would never support this stuff.
The California Chamber of Commerce has made a list of bills that will do the most damage to the California business community for many years now. The list is referred to as "Job Killers".

In 2007 they identified 27 bills that will prevent working California families from being able to live a better life. All 27 were authored by Democrats.

They are: AB 5 (Wolk), AB 8 (Nunez), AB 35 (Ruskin), AB 70 (Jones), AB 338 (Coto), AB 493 (Ruskin), AB 504 (Swanson), AB 888 (Lieu), AB 904 (Feuer), AB 1058 (Laird), AB 1065 (Lieber), AB 1201 (Leno), AB 1554 (Jones), SB 48 (Perata), SB 140 (Kehoe), SB 180 (Migden), SB 201 (Florez), SB 210 (Kehoe), SB 375 (Steinberg), SB 464 (Kuehl), SB 466 (Steinberg), SB 622 (Padilla), SB 840 (Kuehl), SB 899 (Simitian), SB 936 (Perata), SB 942 (Migden), and SB 974 (Lowenthal).

"I have looked at all 27 of these bills and oppose every single one of them," said Assembly candidate Kelly McCarty.

McCarty has worked in the auto body industry for more than two decades. Carty's employs 18 people and has been in business for 15 years.

A look at the website biographies of the Democrat legislators that authored these bills shows one thing very clearly. They have almost a complete lack of business experience. Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez and Senate President Perata have no indication of owning or operating a business. Neither do Assemblymembers Feuer, Jones, Laird, Leiber, Lieu, Swanson, Wolk or Senators Kuehl, Lowenthal, Migden, or Steinberg.

Assemblyman Ruskin was a consultant of some kind. Senator Kehoe was an editor but it can't be determined if she actually owned the business. Joe Simitian is a self-described businessman but does not indicate what kind of business or if it had employees. The one and only real business owner is Assemblyman Mark Leno. He has operated a sign business in San Francisco since 1978.

The information above should end the mystery as to why this happens. These people have no idea what it is like to operate a business in a state like California with our Legislature.
