I have lived in the Greater Bay Area all my life. From the time my sister and I were tiny my parents took us camping to California's parks, lakes, and seashores, where we explored nature and reveled in the outdoors. After attending Stockton public schools, I earned my B.Mus. degree at San Francisco State University and my teaching credential at the University of the Pacific. I have taught instrumental music in several Bay Area school districts over the years. I took nine years out to serve as the religious school principal of three East Bay synagogues before joining the Tracy Unified School District. In Tracy I have taught band and orchestra instruments in elementary and middle schools for 12 years. As a 25 year resident here, I love Livermore. We enjoyed the parks, swimming pool and trails as my son was growing up. Although he has moved to Marin County he continues to cycle the trails there and teaches inner city kids biking skills, getting another generation outdoors. As I had always enjoyed the classes and open space parks LARPD has to offer, I began attending board meetings regularly four years ago. When Dale Turner retired from the board a year ago July, I applied for his position. The board voted unanimously to appoint me to join them. I have served on several committees, participated in two conferences, and attended all board meetings since I have joined the board. I believe strongly in the importance of our work to make our Park District the best it can be for our citizens. |
