Biography and Philosophy

Taught Food Service Management to retiring Non-coms from Camp Pendleton.

With my wife Marilyn, opened a series of successive (and successful) mom-and-pop restaurants in Northern San Diego County over a 20 year period.

Emigrated to Humboldt in 1996, almost immediately employed as Sales Manager for Freshwater Sprouting in Arcata. Opened "Gas Stoves with Style" on Jacobs in Eureka, in late 1996. Continued with Freshwater for another 4 years subsidizing the stove business, until 2001 when I came on full-time.

Retired in 2006, leaving the business to qualified people, creating 2 full and 1 part time jobs in the process.

Top Three priorities for the office I am seeking:

1) Outreach the California University system to establish new outlets for untreated water. They were instrumental in finding new processes for the mills converting to a non- chlorine production for pulp, as well as an incredibly efficient waste treatment system for Arcata.

2) Work with the board on finding the most efficient and ecological means to reinforce our aging infrastructure to maintain a constant, pure supply of water at the best price possible for home and industry.

3) Maintain a good working relationship with the board as well as the water users. Present the dynamics I have learned through the experiences I have had working with the various committees in management over the years.

It is my belief that I would bring a new problem-solving attitude to the board. I would serve the public with the same enthusiasm and integrity that I had in my businesses.
