152 Project at the AirportBy David W. EvansCandidate for Mayor; City of California City | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Last year, the Redevelopment Agency was offered 152 acres along with a very large hanger at the airport. The property was offered to the RDA under excellent terms. Essentially, it required little down and payments over a period of 15 years at a very attractive interest rate. As the RDA contemplated its long range vision for the city, for jobs and a tax base, the decision became self-evident! The property will be used to develop an industrial park for our city. This project is not short-term in nature. This project will be a decade or more in the making. The future industrial park is located within a special foreign trade zone and is also targeted for an enterprise zone. These zones will provide special incentives to employers who locate there. In the future it will provide California City with a job base and tax base. In order to attract business our city needed something to offer. This project will be one item on the menu for those looking to invest in our city. |
