As your Mayor, I sincerely thank you for your support during these trying times. Your attendance at City workshops, comments at City Council meetings, and your contributions to City committees has been essential. You made it clear that the time for business as usual was over. Together, we identified the problems and made those long overdue, tough decisions. We met the issues head on, resulting in a balanced budget and a plan for the future. The process was difficult at best. There are those who question if the cuts had to be so deep-- the changes so radical. I believe it was necessary to ensure our City's economic viability. Those changes have brought promise for the future. The restructuring of City Government has made us more efficient and resilient. Our golf course, now under City management, is producing record profits. With the support of the community the Museum and the library have endured and will again prosper. Our goal of citywide sustainability has manifested into a countywide movement. Now, we must build on this new foundation. We must retain strong leadership to ensure a sustainable future. It is with these goals in mind that I ask for your renewed support. |
