Last Year the airport spent over $400,000 on lawsuits by former employees.Last year the airport spent over $400,000 on legal problems. Most of the legal work involved lawsuits with former employees and the airport manager. Unfortunately, discussion about these lawsuits were behind closed doors. The monies spent on the legal defense of the airport manager is a non-revenue generating expense. These funds are going to be hard to replace. The airport's contingency funds are dwindling to dangerously low levels. In light of all this, what does the Airport Board do? It protects the airport manager and the airport's non-elected attorney by writing and passing Ordinance 905 which requires a super-majority to fire! This is counterintuitive and the practice of protecting incompetency must not be allowed to continue. |
