Dick Searle for Airport BoardBy Richard "Dick" SearleCandidate for Board Member; Monterey Peninsula Airport District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
People living on the Monterey Peninsula are fortunate in having an airport located adjacent to the Peninsula cities. We offer 50 flights a day in and out of Monterey. Ground transportation to and from the airport is provided by local bus and taxi service. An excellent restaurant has been on location for years and serves delicious meals, as is attested by local patrons. The noise created by the airport has been of prime concern to me as an Airport Director, whose home is adjacent to the airport fence. The closure of runway 6/24 and the addition of a parallel runway provide a quieter, safer environment for the residents of Del Rey Oaks, Casanova-Oak Knolls and the residents around the airport. The airport is a major economic asset to the peninsula, a publicly owned transportation system that operates at no cost to the taxpayers. It provides jobs for hundreds of people and brings in the tourists who spend thousands of dollars on the peninsula. The District is self-supporting and is not on the tax rolls. I ask that you and your family vote for me, Dick Searle, on Tuesday, November 4th, so that I can continue to provide your thoughtful, conscientious and effective representation. |
