Political Philosophy for Nizar "Nick" Yaqub

MY PHILOSOPHY I AM APPROACHING THIS ELECTION TO INTRODUCE A NEW MIND SET FOR HOW THE BOARD EXECUTES THEIR DUTY OF TRUST TOWARD THE COMMUNITY. THE HOSPITAL IS A PUBLIC INSTITUTION THAT ENJOYS MANY LEGAL AND FINANCIAL BENEFITS. ACCORDINGLY, THE HOSPITAL HAS A DUTY TO PROVIDE THE COMMUNITY WITH SERVICES AND BENEFITS BEYOND MERE ACCESS TO CHARGABLE SERVICES THAT ARE COMPARABLE WITH NON-PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS. HEALTHCARE HAS BECOME A VERY PROFITABLE INDUSTRY. THE PROFIT GENERATED MUST BE PASSED ON TO THE OWNERS (THE COMMUNITY) AND NOT WASTED ON HIGH EXECUTIVE COMPENSATION, QUESTIONABLE INVESTMENTS, POOR EXPANSIONS AND DUBIOUS PARTNERSHIPS. HEATHCARE HAS BECOME A MAJOR FINANCIAL PROBLEM FOR ALL OF THE COMMUNITY. REGARDLESS WHICH PLAN IS ADOPTED, CONSUMERS STAND TO CARRY MORE SHARE OF THE BURDEN OF COST. THERE WILL BE HIGHER DEDUCTABLES, LESS COVERAGE AND MORE PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY. AS SUCH OUR PUBLIC HEALTHCARE INSTITUTION MUST BE PART OF THE SOLUTION AND HELP THE DISTRICT'S RESIDENTS. IT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE TO CHARGE BLUE CROSS $1 BUT CHARGE INDIVIDUAL $5. MY PHILOSOPHY REQUIRES THE HOSPITAL BOARD TO WORK HARD TO CREATE SOLUTIONS AND HELP THE DISTRICT'S RESIDENTS NOT ONLY TO ACCESS BUT IN THE TOTALITY OF SERVICES. |
