Political Philosophy for Lorraine Prinsky, Ph.D.
Candidate for |

|
Lorraine Prinsky's priorities as a Trustee with the Coast Community College District Board are: To serve both students and the community by assuring quality education through development of quality faculty by increasing the ratio of full to part time faculty. The Coast Community College District falls far short of the California mandate that 75% of classes be taught by full-time faculty. While it is critical that our students receive the best possible education while attending our district's community colleges, it matters not whether their teacher are full or part-time provided our faculty are treated equally. I will do my part to increase full-time teaching positions for our quality part-timers who desire this opportunity. To manage our dwindling resources wisely and avoid wasteful spending in areas that do not benefit the educational process. We need to scrutinize expenses at every level to guard against expenditures that divert resources away from student learning. Dr. Prinsky will bring fresh ideas and independence to the Board and will work to improve budget transparency. To support the development and expansion of programs in emerging technologies so students will have the skills to participate in a global marketplace. This will benefit both our students and our community. To promote educational opportunities that tackle the impending workforce crisis and shortage of skilled workers in Orange County. Our progress in education lags behind our technological progress and there is a great need for more skilled workers. This is a serious problem for our community and our nation and must be addressed by the community colleges, which are serving on the front lines in the areas of vocational-technical training. To promote programs integrating the colleges with local communities, expanding internships and community service learning opportunities. To use taxpayer's money wisely in working towards these goals. If elected, Dr. Lorraine Prinsky pledges to join Trustee Jerry Patterson to stop double dipping by trustees who now collect both a salary and a retirement for the same trustee service. |
