Full Biography for Ruby Young

I was born and raised in North Dakota in the country in an area called a township that was named for my grandparents, Christopher and 'Hattie' Young. I grew up safe and protected and loved animals. Being environmentally aware and concerned was a natural inborn quality. I was educated at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks which was known for it's hockey team with most team members from canada. My degree was in medical science and chemistry. I took a stand for the mistreatment of animals in the medical school. In basic biology my frogs and rats were not harmed by me. The rats lived. The experiements failed. More recently I took a stand about medical abuse of patients. I came to California after graduation to visit my sister Hazel who had moved to Lancaster with her husband Leon Davidson. I stayed in California and I have had further postgraduate education. I have been able to come through some life experiences that I had to learn to survive in. I moved to Irvine as a single parent to give my son, Tommy, the best start in public schools. It did not seem private schools were the best way. Other experiences include but are not limited to personal bankruptcy, business bankruptcy, government cheese and how to 'move forward' when past the next moment looks hopeless. To end with a positive experience because of love of horses and learning how to handle them as a child in North Dakota I was able to volunteer at a therapeutic riding program for handicapped children and seeing them improve was a joy. |
