Experience 13 years teaching middle school mathematics 13 years coaching Arcade Middle School Track and Field Team 2 years teacher representative to Arcade PTA 2 years teacher representative to San Juan Teacher's association 1 year member of Arcade's leadership team 1 year chair of Mathematics Department 2 years master teacher- working with student teachers 1 year district mentor teacher- helping new teachers "Teacher of the Year" for Arcade Middle School in 2006 It is the job of a school board to oversee the education of all the students in the district. I have a unique viewpoint that I think will be beneficial to Dry Creek. I am a parent of a current Dry Creek student, and a former Dry Creek student. I am a teacher. I understand where they are coming from, the pressures that they are under, and I know that no positive change will ever come to a district without buy-in from the parental community and the teachers of the District. It makes no sense to dictate orders from the top. The State of California has mandated that all 8th grade students will be tested in Algebra within the next 2 years. As someone who has actually taught middle school math, I think I can bring a helpful perspective to this challenge. |
