Fred Tovar is an experienced educator and former community college trustee. He has worked hard over the years working with parents, teachers, city leaders,and state legislators on funding and regulations that support the mission of theK-12 system.

The School of Medicine of Stanford University selected Fred Tovar as Director of Student Affairs, Assistant Director of Admissions, Civic Activism Instructor, Undergraduate Academic Advisor, and Member of the Admission Committee for good reasons.

Fred Tovar excels at making others excel. He challenges leading institutions such as Stanford to enhance student access for all students.He works overtime to help prepare the unprepared, to provide detailed roadmaps to individual students to assure their success in higher education and in life.

Fred Tovar will work hard to on behalf of the Gilroy Unified School District and the entire Gilroy Community.He will continue a commitment to quality education, so that the future of our children is always the number one priority.He will work hard to build trust, accountability, access, and student success throughout our system.

In addition to his other positions of leadership, Fred Tovar been awarded the Stanford University Excellence Award, California Community College EOPS Award, and the ENLACE and PUENTE Mentor Award.

He gives to his community, serving as member and/or volunteer for the 2008 Gilroy School Bond Executive Committee, Leadership Gilroy Class of 2008, Gavilan College EOPS Advisory Board, Gilroy Chamber of Commerce, and the Gilroy Garlic Festival.

More importantly than all of the above, Fred Tovar is a person of unquestioned integrity, an individual with an indefatigable work ethic, a compassionate and devoted friend, and a champion for excellence for all segments of the education system.
