Dr. Thomas LaHue has earned his reputation as a consensus-builder with integrity. He's known for inspiring the course of progress even among polarized factions and has demonstrated a a strong commitment to environmental protection. Tom's qualifications and community involvement include:
- Current Vice President of the Soquel Creek Water District (5 1/2 years).
- Former member and Vice Chair of the California Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Coast Region (Governor appointed)
- Founding member (president) of our county's Surfrider Foundation chapter.
- Environmental science teacher at Aptos High School, now in 12th year of teaching in public school.
- Original member of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Advisory Council.
- Received the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Citizen Award, given to those who contributed significantly to the development of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary.
- Veterinary surgeon at Pacific Veterinary Specialists in Capitola and former business owner.
- Father raising his family in Aptos and a community volunteer for youth activities
- B.S. in Biological Science from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo
