Candidate for
Council Member; City of Oceanside

Jim was born in Philadelphia, PA and even as a small child his goal and desire was to move to San Diego County where it was warm and palm trees waved in the breeze. In 1980, the Marine Corps helped Jim fulfill that dream and moved him and his wife to Camp Pendleton, CA. During the 80's Jim served in the Marine Corps on active and reserve duty. 1991 started with orders for Desert Storm activation. Jim participated in a support mode from Camp Pendleton. Jim left the Marine Corps in 1991 with the rank of Captain.

Jim has a Masters Degree in Business Administration. He is the owner of Nova Voice & Data Systems, Inc, a hi-tech, information technology equipment company. Nova installs telephone systems and computer networks in Oceanside and throughout the entire United States.

Jim has been involved in politics and many campaigns for over 10 years. He is currently serving his third term as a Trustee in the Vista Unified School District (One third of Oceanside is in the Vista School District). The last two years, he has been elected by his peers as President of the Vista School Board.

Jim holds strongly to the belief that the free market provides opportunities to all individuals. He is anti-tax and believes that too much of our income goes to taxes. He believes public safety is a primary responsibility of the government and to that end supports a zero tolerance of gang activity and illegal immigration

Jim and his wife Cathy have been married for 29 years and have four children. The Gibson's reside and work in Oceanside.
