Candidate StatementBy Allan S. MacKinnonCandidate for Director; Cambria Community Services District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
My wife, Theresa and I retired to Cambria in 2000 for the wonderful life style and environment. We must preserve our unique quality of life for not only ourselves but for future generations. I have been involved in numerous community service activities including two years on the North Coast Advisory Council (NCAC) and six years on a district school board. As a former manufacturing company president and retired founder and president of an electric robotic vehicle company, I am qualified to bring full understanding and direction to all aspects of CCSD operations. I support the maximum growth mandate of 4,650 residential units and the construction of a supplemental desalinization water supply. As a consequence of building a desal facility, we must develop a viable Buildout Reduction Plan (BRP) - one that does not impact current ratepayers. Recognizing that we live in a pine forest and are 30 miles from major health care facilities, we must maintain our present high quality fire and EMT services. Community confidence must be restored by demonstrating goal oriented leadership with community based values and concerns. Responsible, conservative use of public funds and full disclosure of the financial status and budgeting process is essential. Our nation is in the midst of a financial crisis. All capital projects should be prioritized on a cost-benefit basis to the community and whenever possible, the Board should adopt a pay-as-you-go policy. In the words of George Kettering, founder of Delco Electronics, "I am only concerned about the future as that is where I am going to spent the rest of my life." I believe that I can make a positive contribution to the CCSD Board. LET US MOVE CAMBRIA FORWARD TOGETHER! I ask for your vote on November 4th. Allan S. MacKinnon |
