My district is one of the best places in the world to live, and we need to keep it that way for ourselves, our tourists and future generations.

I will work to do the following in Sacramento:

• Maintain parks and open space, opposing toll roads that would cut through state parks.
• Promote a regional at least "clean ocean" fee of $4.00 to $6.00 monthly per household to reduce beach pollution from dirty storm-drain run-off all along the California coastline, modeled after the City of San Clemente.
• Support all efforts to transition to renewable energy, especially wind and solar, and to wean California from its dependence on fossil fuels and nuclear power.
• Support the Kyoto Treaty and work to minimize the effects of global warming.
• Oppose any new off-shore oil drilling or gas development.
• Support and defend the Endangered Species Act, the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
• Support the mandatory use of recyclable water in all new construction.
• Support taxes and incentives to benefit individuals and corporations who invest in renewable energy.
• Support California's fight for higher gas mileage and less emissions than national standards.
