Adequate support and funding for education.I grew up in a family which prized education. My grandmother and great aunt were college graduates, and at one time both were teachers. Both parents were college graduates, my father, whose parents were immigrants having worked his way through college to become a CPA. I and my five siblings completed college with the assistance of loans and helping each other. I realize, however, that college is not for everyone, but that skill training and on-the-job-training are equally important. I believe that education is the foundation of our democracy, and that education and training are the basis of a healthy economy, which requires a skilled workforce. It is vitally important that our system of public education be funded adequately so that we do not lose the values or accomplishments which have made our country great. This is true of the State of Missouri (as well as nationally) as we compete globally. |
