Environmental PolicyBy Michael A. "Mike" DincherCandidate for State Senator; District 23 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Environmental policies must be feasible, allowing for the use of natural resources that exist while protecting ecosystems. As a biologist and forester I have an understanding of ecosystems management and the importance of employing best management practices (BMP). The end result however does not always justify the means. We must be willing to implement practices which meet our long term goals while maintaining their short term feasibility. For example the financial impact on individual property owners and their communities must be considered. Too often government agencies, committees, or individuals react to situations without an appropriate level of understanding either BMP or the unintended or unconsidered consequences of implementing a broad brush approach. |
