This is an exact copy of my Letter to the Editor published in the May 12, 2009 Journal News under the headline "Hodys: Fresh Perspective Needed for Rye Neck"
In your endorsement, you said that "two candidates stand above a third when it comes to experience and service to the district and the community". Public service is a lofty endeavor that must be highly commended. Indeed, in running for the School Board, I have committed myself to public service. And I do so with a determined conviction that my service would benefit the district and the community. I bring to the Board 22 years of professional experience as both an attorney and a business leader engaged in an international IT consulting firm. I am also a Daniel Warren parent. With only six Board members, if both Ms. O'Keefe and Ms. Marshall are elected, two-thirds of the Board would be comprised of formerly-active PTSA members. I submit that the Board would be better served by a more balanced complement of "external" and "insider" perspectives. The three former PTSA members currently serving the Board provide invaluable historical perspective and service-based expertise and I applaud their hard work and continued dedication to our community. This election, with my candidacy, the community has the opportunity to augment the current Board composition with my unique experience and global perspective. Such a diverse Board is best equipped to engage in robust and productive debate of complex issues. Without a pre-conceived agenda or any bias whatsoever, with measured judgment and a lifetime of success building positive collaborative relationships, my experience and dedication to service at this time would make me a valuable addition to the Board.
