A Little About Marthaanne C. ViurQuiz

Marthaanne C. ViurQuiz is a contemporary servant and a strong advocate for rapid delivery of services to residents and the business community throughout the City of Bell Gardens. Her goal is simple: to make Bell Gardens the most attractive, vibrant, business-friendly and desirable location to live and do business in. Marthaanne brings fresh, energetic leadership and can-do attitude to every project she sets her sights on. For the past 20 years, she has served as a Hearing Representative, Community Leader, Business & Education Advocate, a strong serious supporter of Local Government Reform, a friend and, most of all, a sister to many of us. Marthaanne has worked tirelessly in a variety of capacities, but always with a deep passion to serve her community.

FOCUS ON COMMUNITY CONCERNS AND CONSTITUENT SERVICES

Community concerns always come first with Marthaanne. She understands that the residents want to live in a safe, secure and clean community. That's why she believes that as community leaders, we must respond to constituent calls regarding public safety and city department referrals promptly. Marthaanne recognizes that small businesses are in need of opportunities, and Bell Gardens needs quality stores.

IMPROVING OUR COMMUNITY ONE JOB AT A TIME

Job opportunities and readily available goods and services are the building blocks for strong neighborhoods. Marthaanne is mindful of this and has been the prime mover in bringing reassurance to our youth, business owners, and other community leaders. As a former Jobs & Career Referral Director, she has worked with over 3,000 job-seekers and over 2,000 employers. Under her leadership in 2000, Marthaanne provided over 2,000 permanent jobs to the local community, bringing the unemployment rate down from 12.0 to 9.9%. Today, the unemployment rate in Bell Gardens is 18%.

A BACKGROUND REFLECTING ROOTS

Marthaanne attended the University of La Verne and majored in Business Law. She has worked as a Workers' Compensation Specialist/Legal Representative/Paralegal for various law firms. She is the President of the ViurQuiz Scholarship Fund, President of Friends of Bell Gardens Library, President/Founder of Bell Gardens Women's Club, President/Founder of Southern California Civic Leaders Association, Founder of Mybellgardens.com community website, Member and Ambassador of Hacienda Publica Espaņola, Charitable & Humanitarian Giving (Madrid Spain), former Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts Leader, and former PTA President.

Marthaanne and her husband, Martin, have been married for over 22 years. They have two grown children. The ViurQuiz Family lives in Bell Gardens and has been very active in their community for the past 20 years.
