I am applying for the Larkspur Board of Trustees because I want to contribute to maintaining and enhancing what is already an excellent school district. I am a proud parent of two in our District, and I enjoy being involved in their schools through many volunteer opportunities. I currently serve on Hall's Site Council--an advisory board of parents, school representatives, and students--and have attended Trustee meetings regularly over the past 2 years. I am committed to ensuring that our children receive the best possible education. Our District faces tough budget challenges in California's struggling economy. I have experience making tough decisions and constructively facilitating diverse groups to achieve progress. I believe that diversity and differing opinions should be encouraged; there are two sides to every issue, and our solutions must incorporate the full range of viewpoints. I look forward to contributing my experience and talents to help ensure sound decisions are made for our students and community. Great public schools happen through the commitment of everyone: students, teachers, parents, administrators, the community, and Board members. I am committed to protecting the Larkspur School District's well-deserved reputation for academic quality and positive learning environment. |
